Original hand carved Gingko sculpture direct from the carver. Green soapstone realistic medium size stone art carving, tribute for the oldest leaving specimen
According to a theory, the evolution of the human being consistently happening, because our survival instinct is the strongest among all leaving creature on this earth. Since the first time I learned about the fascinating plant of Gingko tree, made me think twice about the theory's accuracy. It became a symbol of strength in the western culture, hope and peace on the far east. Stone and Gingko can pairs up in art perfectly, and just can't carve enough of it. This lite green soapstone sculpture is my latest carving. Carved only by hand tools, chisels, rasps and files, and polished it with standard water base sandpapers up to 2000 grit. Pinned and stone epoxy glued on a round shape black and white so called zebra marble base. Finally sealed and buffed with natural non toxic bee wax. The soapstone is semi translucent, what means, when displayed with light behind it, the sculpture will have a glowing like look.
